I didn't mean to yell but I just found out that they bulldozed my restaurant about 5 years ago.
It's like trying to find an old girl friend, you may not be happy what you find.
For some dumb reason I was trying to search for the restaurant and maybe their menu and kept coming up short. So I called the chamber the other day and was told they got tired of the business and bulldozed it.
A little background: I had it from 77' to 85'. I think in 82 - 83 we did a remodel. We had a 40 stool bar overlooking the lake, and seating for 100. We installed a Four Seasons sunroom with a raised floor so that everyone had a view of the lake and also a garden theme, it was beautiful, in fact one of my competitors said it was the show place of the northwoods. There were 465' of lake frontage there, worth a fortune. It was all windows facing the lake. We would get reservations for a window view everyday.
Then it happened, we had a fire, inflation was out of control, and no one would lend to repair it, and we were buried in debt. Since it wasn't a total loss the insurance didn't pay enough to repair it.
A good customer bought it for nothing and rebuilt and opened it and that is the last I knew of it as I moved from the area.
The other day I contacted a realtor there and we had a nice chat. I told him I owned it at one time and he said it was his favorite place as he and his wife would come by boat and enjoy the sunset. He offered to go out today and take some pictures and here they are. He also said it was not for sale at this time.
Over head shot of the city.
This looks like my view.
Same here.
We had sunsets like this all the time.
Another one.
Those were from google.
These were shot today. Parking lot?
Sad.
Trail down to the lake.
A little further down.
Getting closer.
Cabin is still there, had many friends and relatives stay there.
Almost there.
I could almost smell it, ahh memories.
The old deck is still there.
No idea, don't recognize the fence, must be the parking lot.
I would venture to say the land is now worth over a1/2 to one million dollars, but maybe I am wrong. Why anybody would bulldoze the building is beyond me.
Take care my friends and thanks for watching, I am still in shock.
