How to price jerky to sell?

Yep, jerky is a labor of love and an act of love to share it. That's sort of what I meant, homemade jerky is "priceless". I used to have to add an intolerable amount of cayenne to mine to slow people, and myself down and make it punishing to eat too much, otherwise my jerky would be gone in no time.

That's a great idea with the cayenne. I might have to try that myself
 
I Love jerky with all my heart and soul and make several pounds a week, but it is not a money-making business. It's pretty hard to break even really. When I quit selling jerky in '06 or '07 I was selling for 55\ lb and could easily sell everything I made. I was buying meat tax free from the PX for a good chunk of that time.

$55 / lbs?? What region of the country? Average around me in Ohio is $28-$35

I really enjoyed the process and others enjoying the product. I would "sell" some for cost.

Depends on volume pricing for consistent pricing. Also on the marinade. If you go now elaborate they become pretty expensive. If you use brand name ingredients even more so.
