Hey guys, I just got a new 40" MES beauty. Its alot like my previous 40" MES but this one has legs! Anyway, I know the inside will get dark and a bit grimy, all seasoning so Im not worried about that, but I want to keep my grills as clean and shiny as possible. I want to keep them looking new.

Has anyone succeeded at this? I try to rinse them off and put them in the dishwasher, which sort of works but not really. If I spend 30 mins on each grill scrubbing them, that mostly works but who wants to do that? Just looking for an easier way.

I have a 30 . I throw them on my gas grill and burn them off . Not shiny , but clean and ready to go . If you don’t have that option get a propane torch .

anything that fits in the ktichen sink gets hot water soaked. but usually I break out my terminator torch and give them a roast with wire brush follow up.

Mainly burn off, but have a tote that racks fit in. Hot water, dawn dish soap and soak for 1/2 hr. Scrub pad to get what wants to come off without elbow grease and call it good.

After a good burn off and once there cool I'll douse them in Dawn Power Wash, soak for a while and then run them through the dishwasher. On occasion I'll do this with the rack holders, water pan and drip pan.To be honest I really only do this when I'm bored.

On occasion the smoker box itself gets nothing more than a scraping with a stiff plastic spatula/putty knife and stiff nylon brush to get any heavy buildup off.

Dollar store oxy and _HOT_ water soak will make them shine line new again. IIRC set of 2 new on Amazon was like $20.

I put mine in a plastic trash bag and add some ammonia, then seal the bag and let them set over night. Then wash with regular dish soap

Put them in the sink to soak. Hot water and a tablespoon or so of dishwasher powder. Soak em overnight and then into the dishwasher. That powder changes the PH and makes it slick and soft.

Mine might get a once a year deep cleaning, but I mostly just get them hot and scrape off the loose stuff. I don't have a MES, but I expect this applies to grill grates in general.

I recently power sprayed my grates and couldn’t believe how easy it was. I could imagine this may not work with all situations

Yeah mine are good to go.
I only put the ones I am cooking with in the smoker the rest stay put up.
To clean them I wash in the sink using an sos pad to knock the grime off (grabage disposal handles the grime). Once they are handled that way with the major grime and smoke I toss the min the dish washer with the other dishes and they come out very clean.

I put them up with the other clean racks and then only pull out what I need when time to smoke something.
This is all quite simple and effective and not any real effort.

I lay mine on the driveway spray them with this stuff and hose them off. This stuff is GREAT, from Sam's Club.

I learned the hard way about throwing grates in the dishwasher, it can and will stop up stuff, I wouldn't recommend it lol
OH yeah cannot just throw right in.

Gotta knock all that stuff off and get the inital fat/grease off with the sos pads over the garbage disposal. Leaving it good to go for a dish washer. Or else the clogs and hose cleaning will be a nightmare hahahaha :D
