Hello all - I'm Terry from Atlanta.

I grew up watching my dad smoke weekend meals on his R2D2 (thats what I called his water smoker). Everything I know about smoking was passed down by watching him spend hours tending that little smoker. I always felt so much pride in my old man when people would compliment the meat.

Now that I'm older and "calming down" my draw to continue the family tradition he started is getting stronger. My table top Weber just wasn't filling the need anymore so I started perusing your lovely little forum about a month ago researching the best smoker for my budget/space. I was able to narrow it down to a few and eventually decided on the Brinkmann Trailmaster LE (with a few mods courtesy of the forum) and an iGrill. I've cooked on it twice so far and I'm very pleased. The only thing left to do is sort out a permanent heat baffle as right now I'm just using some altered pans - works good, though.

This weekend I get to cook for my dad and the rest of the family that he use to cook for... It's an exciting/anxious time for me. Can't wait to light the fire!

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
