Newbie to the site here.  Have put up my profile and have taken the 5 day course.  Great info.

Purchased a Masterbuilt XL last weekend based on recommendations here.  Got it at BPS for $179.99.  Seasoned it on Sunday (getting the requisite flames from my oak chunks) and planning my first smoke tomorrow with chicken and a ham.

This is my first propane smoker as I have been using a cheap Brinkman charcoal for several years and it finally gave up the ghost.  The MPS is HUGE.  Have read about the mods that others have made.  Not sure which ones I will implement other than doing something about the wood tray.  I will be using a throw away aluminum pan for the water.  Will probably use the supplied water tray as my wood tray.

I'll let all know how the first smoke turns out.

Welcome to SMF! Glad to have you with us!

Congrats on your new smoker & good luck with your first smoke on it!
