Hello, I've been a fan of Jeffs for quite some time & decided to join the forums. I get Jeffs newsletters, bought his rub & sauce recipes and look for his youtube videos. I currently have 2 smokers. One is a masterbuilt electric smoker and the other one is a Char-Griller charcoal grill with the off-set fire box. I use my electric smoker all the time because for some reason the charcoal smoker is a little intimidating.  Maintaining the temps over a long period of time had been difficult.

2 weeks ago I decided to purchase the Maverick ET732 dual probe thermometer based on Jeffs recommendation. Having the probe for the smoker has made a world of difference for me. I did a trial run on my charcoal smoker & I found that maintaining the temps was easier than I thought. This weekend I will be attempting to smoke a pork butt and I'll be using Jeffs sauce & rub on it. The town that I live in is having a competition cook-off in September. Hopefully I can master my charcoal smoker quickly enough to feel confident to enter the competition.  Wish me luck!

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! Would you mind updating your profile to show the other SMF members where you are located?  Might meet some neighbors!

Also check out ”Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course”, it will teach you bunches no matter your experience level!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Welcome to the forums!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Just ask when you need help and someone here will have the answer.
