After reading many of the informative posts on this and a few other boards, I recently purchased a CharGriller with SFB. I've been doing bbq for a few years now going from indirect cooking on a weber kettle, to an ECB, and now to the CG. I purchased the CG because I volunteered to cook for a wedding (My own

) and I need to be able to cook enough pulled pork for about 60 people. Harris Teeter had Pork Butt on sale this week for 97 cents a pound, so I picked up 10 of them in the 7 to 8lb range. I plan on cooking some ahead of time and maybe about 4 or 5 the day of.

Thanks for all the great information. I plan on sticking around a while and sharing my bbq experiences.

Jim

Welcome to SMF jstreet0204. Glad to have you with us. It sounds like you're gonna be busy on your big day. I think I'd want to do them all ahead of time, unless it is a really informal wedding.

Welcome to SMF ... you're in good company here!

I'm jealous ... there's no way I can get pork but for .97 ... I just paid about $4 lb for a boneless one from a butcher here in Ontario.

Can't believe you are cooking for 60 ppl for your own wedding!

Well first of all let me congratulate you on your upcoming marriage. Secondly, welcome to the SMF. Looks as if you're planning to smoke up the town on your day. Be sure and ask any questions, we're here to help you ans to share.

Welcome to SMF! Looks like your gonna be real busy, make sure you take time to snap some pics for Q-view!

The wedding is actually the day before on Fri and will be just close family, then the reception is on Sat. The reception is a very informal Luau party. This is both of our second wedding, so this time around we realized it isn't all about all the flashy formal stuff with a bunch of catered fancy wedding food that nobody really likes anyway. The party starts at 2pm so I will start it the night before. I have all the gear to manage it and still set some sleep so I'm looking forward to it.

Sounds excellent and congrats on the wedding! I like your style, we are doing an informal wedding ourselves, Hawaiian theme. I gotta give you propers on doing the food yourself, sounds like my kind of party!

Welcome to SMF, we're glad to have ya!

Yup. I'll have some coming up shortly that I took last night and this morning. I went ahead and cooked two of the butts last night to get a feel for how it was going to go doing an over night cook. I just got through suck vacing them with the food saver, but I have to get the wife to be to get her pics of the wedding dress off the camera first since I don't think I am supposed to see it.

Hey, I did... at least we knew what we were getting! We had a blast, in our own back yard, food prepared by me on my own grill (didn't have a smoker then...) and deep fried turkeys, plus lots of salads and stuff people brought.

Welcome to the board from another North Carolinian.....

You will love the CG w/sfb. I have 2 of them and had them both going this past weekend.

Enjoy the weekend and the get together, and new marriage.
