Hello from Iowa

Hello all my name is Darrick and I love great BBQ. I am currently living in Iowa as I am in the US Army and stationed at Rock Island Arsenal.  It is some beautiful country out this way but unfortunately I have yet to find some really good BBQ. I am from Alabama (Roll Tide) and have been eating great tasting BBQ all my life. I just recently decided to get heavy into smoking but decided to start out small.  I purchased a MES yesterday and seasoned it last night. Put on a 7lb Boston Butt today and hopefully it will turn out ok.  Look forward to learning from all of you. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to the group and thank you for your service. Lived in Iowa as a kid myself and moved back to the other side of the muddy Mississippi in 1987. Been to some good BBQ places but seems like it's always better done yourself. Good luck with the new smoker and keep smoking.
