Leaving Illinois winter behind for a bit.
Heading to Florida this afternoon. Wife and I are going to visit our daughter and son in law for a week. going to take some ribs and stuff, some hickory and even going to try and fit the new ECB in the car to take to them and show them how to smoke. If all goes well I will be smoking in sunny Florida on the weekend. We are looking forward to a week away from work and some R&R&Beer&BBQ. takeing the camera and laptop so hopefully I will have some florida Qview for yall!

At least you waited until it warmed up down there. My daughter lives in Winter Haven and she said it was almost as cold there as it is here in Northern Indiana.

well the wife and I are back in the frigid midwest!
trip went well. I have a bunch of Qview and pics to get posted but just didnt have the time to do it while we were there.
kids loved the ECB I brought for them and also loved the ribs I made them
son in law is a busy guy but did say he was going to check this forum out.
they were both very excited to have a smoker and learn how to smoke things
and yes we did go to Disney and Universal studios while we were there
daughter and her husband both work at Universal so that was a gimmee!
and they had a new coaster to ride too!!! never too old to ride the coasters!
anyway, thanks all for the well wishes our trip. now I have to catch up with over 300 posts and get my qview pics posted.

heat wave this weekend, supposed to be 40 tomorrow..

I went right back to work Friday when we got home and havent had a chance to post some Qview from Florida,
so here are a few shots of some of the food we had.
The wife and daughter found a really nice cheese shop so they picked up some cheese for appetizers, along with some chibatta bread and seasoned dipping oils
then we had my home made Brats. I didnt remember to take any pictures until we were done so there is just one shot of the leftover brats.
the kids were thrilled with the ECB I brought them.
the son in law loves it and is looking forward to learning how to smoke!

Ribs in for the ECB maiden voyage. i used the minion method and it held t nice and steady 260-270 through the whole smoke. I dont think I did bad for the first time using a charcoal ECB> I have read so much on here that it was like I had done it many times before.

we dug in before I snapped the pics. they were fantastic 2-1.5-1 was the time
