HOwdy folks,

just threw on a butt, and I've been picking up Frontier brand Charcoal for a while now. It's lump and the stuff is heavy, natural hardwood. It's very dense, they sell the stuff in 10lb bags, but the bags aren't as packed as Royal Oak or Cowboy Charcoal, for example. Some of the pieces are about as big as my forearm, and I've got a Charbroil Silver Smoker, offset firebox. ANyone have any opinions or experiences with the stuff? I buy it at Mejier.
It really doesn't matter how they pack it. It's 10 lbs. Just compare prices on ten lbs vs ten lbs. then assess which better suits your tastes and needs. Sounds like you're happy with the product - so that's cool !
I've used Frontier quite a bit. Some bags will have more smaller chunks and others will have some really nice large chunks which I prefer. Those small chunks just burn up in the chimney and never make it to the smoker. Purchased my first bag of RO last week. Notice the bag was bigger, but weighed the same 10lbs. LOL.....marketing ploy I'm sure. Can't say I prefer one brand over the other except to say I like the bigger chunks much better. Longer burn time and doesn't go to waste in the chimney. Imho.
