I have been a 'Griller' for years and on occasion, have borrowed a large "Pig Cooker" to cook a whole pig or several pork shoulders to feed a crowd.  A good friend introduced me to a small charcoal smoker and I was hooked. However, after a great deal of research, I narrowed my choice to an electric smoker....I know...but I have my reasons. After doing substantial shopping on line today, 10/8/15, I purchased a Masterbuilt  30 in. Electric Smoker, Model 20070613 (20071514) from Lowe's in Cary, NC for $119 +tax. Not a bad price since the list price was $300. It is a close out model but had all the features I was looking for. Looking forward to smoking' some Baby Back Ribs this weekend, next to go in the Smoker will be a Pork Shoulder, then planning to smoke some Turkey Breasts for Thanksgiving.

Welcome to the group!  Nice score on that smoker.  Lots of folks here do electric, so don't sweat it.
