Jane took the KCBS Certified BBQ Judge class Saturday and is now certified.

We are looking forward to judging competition Q near and far.
I got hooked into helping with the class by preparing the sample boxes and being a table captain. Enjoyed that. "Sampled" a bit myself.

The sample meats for the class were smoked by KC RibDoctor and Paul Kirk, The Baron of Barbeque, two of KCBS' origonal members and founders. The Baron said he is opening a new restaurant in New York City (git a rope!) called "Rub", on 23rd st. He is also opening a new restaurant in Las Vegas shortly and is flying to Vegas after the New York thing to train his chef.
He told me if I ever thought about getting into the restaurant business the first thing to do would be to see a highly qualified psychiatrist!

And here I thought you had the wife committed ;).

You should have asked Paul Kirk if he was accepting resumes for pit bosses.

Take care,

Brian

No she can (or will) ligitimatelly critique every dish you produce! My family rarely gives me a negative critique, but if my wife gets a little bold ...... I can always say, your not a judge .......... you just dont know what your looking for!

Mike, give my congrats to Jane. I was going to take the class here in Salt Lake last year (they offered two classed) but I had to miss both of 'em one cuz of work and the other coz I was sick.
