Peculiar, MO
I am going to light off the new 3405 gasser and season it today. It will be a learning curve.
If there are reports of a loud noise south of Peculiar, MO I probably won't post for a while.
I will watch the news today Mike. If things go bad I will step up and take the Geezer and cheese smoking attachments under my wing.
Isn't it nice to have good friends.
Well! No loud noise!

Filled the water pan, got the smoker hooked to the 20lb. bottle, opened the valve, turned the control knob to high (light), turned the lighter knob one click and it lit. How simple!
This little jewel heats up NOW! Shot right up to 330. I filled the wood box with cherry chips and backed the flame off to almost LOW. In a few the thin blue smoke was coming out the top vent and temp dropped to 260. Backed the flame all the way down, opened the door to dump heat, opened the vent half way, and let it go an hour. She's seasoned now!
The wood box is way too small, chips didn't last long. I'm going to buy a loaf pan and put a few holes in it like PigCicles did his.
I bought two thermometers at Sutherland's, located one just under the lower rack on the left side and the other just under the second rack from the top on the right side, just to monitor internal temps. They run pretty close to each other, and, amazingly, the one on the door is only off 10 deg.
Tomorrow is the first smoke - meatloaf. And some ABT's. Pics follow.

Chad, it is nice to know if I fade the Geezer and cheese smoker will go to a good home where it would be loved and cared for. I have always told Jane the next guy is going to have a lot of nice toys. Now though, I think she would sell my boats and fishing gear, all my guns, my tools, give my clothes to Goodwill, and book a month long trip to Europe.

Mike that is awesome! You fired it up and made smoke like you've had it for years. Glad it didn't make any loud noises for you - I'd hate for the Geezer to be orfaned out.

Keep Smokin
I believe she's gonna be a good 'un.

Fortunately, I have a good friend down Clinton way who would take in the Geezer if it were orfinked (as Popeye usta say).
yea mike i quickly learned that if your going to use the stock wood box you need to use chunks, chips burn up way to fast. hope you enjoy that gosm as much as i enjoy mine.. with the et73's it makes smoking almost toooo easy.. almost like cheating
