Western NY
Hi, Spence here from the sticks of western ny. I've been doing alot of reading on this site for awhile. Tons of great info here.

I have never smoked before but i have the itch to try it. After reading through the threads i thought i wanted to build a UDS. Then i started looking at the GOSM charcoal, then the brinkmann. Then i looked into the LP versions of those as well. I was going crazy trying to figure out what way to go. Well, supply and my need to smoke this weekend has made my decision. The only smoker i found within 100 miles that i can pickup tonight is the smoke hollow 34" propane. That is what i am going to start out with. I read about the temps being hard to keep low, and to call their cutomer service for replacement parts. So, i will do that next week.

Nat a bad price. I found a brand new unit for $129. Gonna season it tomorrow morning and try out a beer can chicken. We will see how that goes. I have a feeling this will become an addiction. Thanks in advance for the help i know i will recieve in the future from the fine folks here.

I've always enjoyed grilling (can i say grill here or is that taboo lol) but the smoking sounds like something i could really get into.

Everywhere i went locally and asked about smokers they looked at me like i was crazy, then showed me some grills.

I finally found the Smoke Hollow at gander mountain and it is very similar to the GOSM and Brinkmann from what i can tell.

I'll get some pics of it up once it's assembled and seasoning. Then i will try to hone my unskills for the light blue smoke.

Welcome to our club. Enjoy your smoking and remember to keep cold beer on hand to fight off flare ups.
