Hi,
I have a GMG Trek Prime. I do clean it occasionally but obviously not often enough.
SoOOOooo..... I disassembled it - meaning I simply took out the grill grate on the top, removed the grease tray, removed the heat shield over the fire box. Then I vacuumed out everything ..... and tried to place everything back. (key word "tried")

  • FIRST - my grease tray is slightly warped - is that normal?
  • SECOND - I can "sort of" lay the grease tray back in, but
    • the left side (closest to the hopper) with the half moon cut out, seems SUPER close to the top or grill grate as it sits or lays there
    • the right side does not sit or place under the lip
On the left (closest to the hopper) Is the grease tray suppose to rest on the lip on the left shown in the picture with the labels??
On the right, is the grease tray supposed to REST on the lip or somehow be placed under the lip on the ride side of the grill?

I am confused at the PLACEMENT of the grease tray..... and the "flow" of grease. I realize it drips onto the grease tray - but then how does it get to the exit whole on the right side? Does grease literally "fill up" in the bottom of the grill barrel? It seems that, and I could be wrong, there should be some channel from the grease tray to the hole in the right side where it exits out to the little pale or bucket to catch it.

I have pictures of mine below.

I also have a link here to the mfg's website with pics of the assembly, and a YouTube video with a 3D assembly animation - I am still not certain if I have it set up right.

Thanks!!
AJ

I'm not sure on that cooker, but hopefully someone will come along with some guidance for ya.

I have an older model GMG. The tray has a slight downward angle towards the right side. You should be able to see the grease hole on the right side. Yours might be covered up with ash and grease. Then a tube goes towards the grease bucket. I'm a fan of using a liner for the bucket.
