Do folks tim foil the drip tray or leave bare? Looks like the tim foil would block the flow of heat/smoke...

I have a GMG Peak, which is the newer version of The Jim Bowie... leave mine bare. Probably more of a personal preference thing to most.

I have a Camp Chef pellet rig. I think some foil the drip tray and cut out the slots to let the heat/smoke/air flow freely from the burn pot below, but I don't foil mine.

I foil my Recteq because I use it at high temps and that reduces the burn in time to get all the old oil burnt off. However, I don't foil my little green mountain grill as it has open flame ports.....

It's maybe worth saying that I use pans under what I'm cooking, so my drip pan really doesn't see any meat grease.

I wrap my Rec Teq drip tray to keep the mess minimalized. I cant find a great pick of the drip tray, but the ones I did look very similar to mine, solid sheet of steel with small edge. if so I would wrap it tightly so its not flaring out the sides. should affect anything.

I used to wrap the drip trays on both of my GMG's and my RecTeq when I first got it. I no longer do as its easier to scrape it clean before a high heat cook and I honestly hated the foiling process. It is definitely personal preference, and among all of the bbq forums I'm on, the only higher debated question is fat cap up or down lol

I asked GMG support the same question... they recomended not wrapping since it will effect heat/air flow... also if you do said not to wrap edges... left edge could effect the temp sensor..right grease flow...

I have a OJ's rider dlx. I do the same as Doug posted. I have a disposable aluminum pan with a rack on it for the meat. I do run a dry pan. A pan with water under the meat just not quite right in my opinion.
