Fried chicken

  1. I'm making some fried chicken tonight for dinner. Does anyone have a good brine they can share with me that doesnt require buttermilk. Thanks.

    I use tenderquick

    directions on the bag for the pounds of meat you have

    usually brine for 4 hours or so.

    then rinse really well so as noty to be too salty.

    It really makes the chicken juicy

    works well for smoking  chicken too

    Search for "tips slaughter house brine recipe", i have used it many times and varied it a couple of times it is awesome!

    I personally don't use brine for Fried Chicken. I let mine sit in buttermilk. If you can, let it sit overnight. But it creates a tender and moist chicken perfect for frying.

    Why don't you want to use buttermilk?  That is the de facto standard for tender, juicy fried chicken.

    I'm with Coffee Junkie and vote for "The Slaughter House Brine" By Tip it's that good. Look it up in Wiki.

    If you are going to brine I agree but am also wondering why not Buttermilk?

    I say fry hers up first then the buttermilk bird.
  10. Try a new spin on fried ckn. Cut ckn in strips, coat with Pam nonstick spray. Crush up a half a can of prigles potato chips, dredge ckn and cook at 350 in oven 15 min each side until golden brown. Taste just like old fashion fried ckn. Try it and you will  love it!! Happy cooking.
