First time posting, first smoker build, and first major welding project. Been using different types of Smokers for over 30 years. This is all about my first DIY build, and it cant look to "Homemade" or I wont be able have it near the house. Already making some good progress so I will just post some pictures for now. It started with a 59 year old 60 gallon air compressor tank.

Cut the wedge for the firebox, but it so nasty inside I cut the door as well so i could wash it out.

Firebox tacked and welded up. Ignore some of the bad welds. I tried a different Fluxcore wire and it did not agree with me and my machine.
Making them one
Getting rid of the nastiness.
Cleaned up, reverse plate tacked in place, not complete and door attached.
Small mishap with an angle grinder and a cutoff wheel. A couple week delay I'm guessing
to be continued...

Made some good progress this weekend. Door Flange completed. Smokestack Installed and fire box door built and installed. My Mapp Gas torch went bad, so I could not finish the latch. A little cleanup and a few details and main unit is done. Time for fire grate, Charcoal basket and cooking racks.
