Okay, I decided to go a little easy at first with my first smoke. I decided to smoke some eggs. Cheap and if I mess them up not a hard lesson. I have to say that it was very easy to maintain the temp at about 225 throughout. I found the sweet spot with the propane.

Below is a photo of the eggs at about 2.5 hours. I'll be taking them off in about 30 minutes. I'll post the aftermath on this thread later.

Looks good nice job

Now you are off to a start, what is planned for the next time?

I'm not sure what's next. My wife and I are both doing very well on a stringent weights loss program and as of right now eggs are the only thing we can have that I can smoke. I know it doesn't make any sense to build a smoker when we are trying to lose weight, but I am getting closer to my goal. I will be done with the program by the middle to end of september. I am trying to decide between a brisket or ribs. Heck, maybe I'll do both.

Well with a smoker of that size you can smoke both and then both again.

Hey Pat, That has got to bite. I'm on a diet meownself and lately I've been doing skinless chicken, lean pork and fish-all of which I can do on the smoker. Plus you can throw all kinds of fresh vegetables in the smoker, the smoker isn't just for meat as you found out by smoking some eggs!

Congrats on the smoke. Veggies go good on the smoker, but go easy on the smoke, they seem to really smoke it up.

Around here, folks smoke just about anything. Plug some of the foods you're allowed to eat into the search feature. You may be pleasantly surprised!

Hey great job on theose Pterodactyl eggs, looking real good! I understand about the diet thing, but my plan is to cut out late night eating, chips, and anything at work that comes out of a machine.....

Doing okay so far and leaves more room for "real" food including smoked meat. The Doc says to eat high quality food (calories) and cut out the low quality food (calories from snacks like chips, and processed foods).

Pterodactyl eggs are definitely on the good food list, and don't skinp on the poultry. Smoked bird is one of the best overlooked meats around, I say.

Nice job on the eggs. Had to start the diet also. Went to cardiologist yesterday and told me I need to start working out Monday thru Friday for 30 minutes/day like my life depended on it. Borderline BP, high cholesterol....Guess I need to switch to turkey bacon,,,

Okay, it seems I learned a small lesson first time out. The eggs smoked wery well, but as you can see from the yolks I overcooked them. They are very edible and the smoke gives them a very unique taste which I enjoy. I think I could cut the smoking time down to 2 hours as opposed to 3. We'll see. Here are the photos.
