Hey Guys;

Just thought I'd let you all know how my first attemp at smoking a turkey went.

Short Version:
Looked horrible BUT tasted Wonderful.

What I learned:
Charcoal (non Lump) does NOT make a good base.
Must have a good base of hot coals before starting.

Once I had a good base of coals, Temp control was fairly easy.

Hickory smoke sure smells good.

I attribute how juice my turkey was to brining.

I'll be attempting a Boston Butt for Pull'n next.

Thanks for you all who helped me get started with replies to my posts.
I'll try to post them in the right section from now on.

Later,
Bill

Sorry, No Pictures...

The Family was relieved that once the Black Skin was peeled back to see nice look'n meat.

The Juices just oozed when cut.

Later,
Bill

Glad it worked out for you. Always nervous with the first of everything. sounds like you pulled it off, just fine. Getting the 'good word' from the family is always reassuring.

If you handled the bird, you will do great on the butt.

Just follow what you read here. It will get you through.
