First smoke with the new Chargriller...q/view!

  1. This is my first attempt at some spares on my new Chrgriller...Im still learning with it...but at this time...everything seems to be going as planned. Sorry didnt get any q-view of ribs before they went on...but this is at 3 hr I am foiling...

    Is this Thin and blue enough??

    Does this look like what im suppose to be doing as far as the " minion" Method?

  4. having trouble keeping the temp up now....Is it because i have to much ash in the bottom?...I have dumped fresh coal in...and it still seems to be dropping

    It's just the Kingsford....when it finally lights the temp will recover....quickly!

    Trust it's OK? Ash IS an issue...keep it cleaned out as much as ya can.

    What do you all use to keep these clean?...this was brandnew at the start of the smoke...I have one on each side.

  9. Yeah...I used lump to start with....relized about halfway through smoke...that I didnt have enough...sent wife out...and Kingsford is what she brought back

    Know that bottle of charcoal lighter you got sitting around NOT being used? Works well... dampen a paper towel and wipe it off. Or acetone, or gas... prolly WD-40. Not Walking Dude...he's WAAAY over 40 ;{)

  11. Lookin good, man, looking good!

    Here is what I use for my charcoal in the firebox.
    It has held up great, no signs of wearing out due to heat etc. - keeps the charcoal up out of the ash.
    Just remove the handle and rig it into the firebox on those rails going down the sides... inexpensive solution to a common problem [​IMG]

    Ribs look great, taters not bad either. I have been contemplating a chargriller to complement my GOSM, you have helped my decision kind sir.

    Hey Gethenet,

    I have the same thermometer and I have cleaned mine with a razor blade. The smoke build up just scrapes right off. You can use soap and water and a whole lot of elbow grease and it will eventually come off, but scraping takes 2 seconds.....done. I have also been looking at the Chargriller as my next smoker. I have been comparing offset smokers that I can afford, and the Chargriller seems like the hands down winner. I dont know when I will get it, but someday, someday it will be mine (lol).
