I just bought an upright Brinkmann cheapo from Wal-mart. I forgot how much I loved grilling with charcoal over gas.

I'm interested in smoking chicken, and maybe a beef brisket. However, I'm a little puzzled how I don't end up grilling the meat outright with this thing.

Welcome. We don't refer to them as displaced. We call them Damn Yankees. LOL. Lots of people use the ECB's. You'll find plenty of support and wonderful people here. Oh, and don't forget the pictures, we love food porn.
Welcome to the forum. Nice to have you aboard. Please feel free to share your adventures, ask questions, and hang out with a friendly bunch of folks here.

There are some of us Yankees that just don't acclimate as well up here as we do down south. For some reason I've always had a better fit (so to speak) down south.

Welcome to the SMF MS Mayhem. A great place to start is by taking Tulsa Jeffs free 5 day eCourse. It will teach you what you need to know to get started. Great folks here, so jump right in with any and all questions and comments.

Glad you found us.
Great to have you aboard, misplaced or not! There's a ton of good folk and good ideas here... if you can't find what you're looking for, just ask!
it may help to remember---
that in the south---
that y'all can be singular.....................

in texas--they called yankee's who came to work and live---
red river wetbacks....

im glad to meet you...
.........Actually people who move to Texas may be truer than "born" Texans. I mean they came here on purpose to become a Texan and the others could be merely an accident of birth. This could get me kicked outta The Lone Star State.............Naw....
