Nice solve for what you have. Ultimately you have an air flow problem, or lack of control of air. You need a venturi inlet. One with a dial for air control. You solved your problem with orifice size change, which is fine in your situation but really you need air control. And that set screen thing they have for air is just silly.

All in all I’d say you did a good job, but I would have changed the burner entirely, just me though.

Screen is to keep bugs out, I would almost bet regulator is putting to much pressure out from what it looked like, never seen a factory deal with natural gas orifice in it but who knows.

Factory/customer support sent an entire new burner assembly. Its in the garage. I have 2 now. Exact same problem. My best guess is factory parts supplier is providing out of spec assemblies. I tried two different propane tanks and 2 different regulators. Ill follow up with customer support and see if they want to continue the troubleshooting.

Did a cook this morning. Flames was nice, temperature was adjustable properly and in range. Im at least content with it now.

You did what was correct for your situation. I guess I’m more critical of the factory set up. There is no adjustable air Venturi. Big red flag.
