this is for ALL hunters to get meat for there smokers or grills next year so nobudy is left out.

whereas my main w.o.c. is a .50- prolly a lot different using barretts & an m700 in .308- i just don't kill anything other than fish the last few years....great idea though. the last thing i killed was an 18 lb. wild turk taken by hand.thats only cause the dog had it trapped in the fence line-still gotta get those pics developed(before we bought the digicam).

well this IS a guns threads so is a 308 like a 303 british?

You guys would not believe how much I live my life waiting for November every year. I do not bow hunt (yet, nor do I apply for muzzle loader (yet). ND has way too many deer and rifle season is a blast for me, I usually fill 5 ot 8 tags and that keeps me busy with sausage. In time I do want to take up bow hunting and possibly muzzle loader. But as far as rifle season goes, I am am always ready..... Lock n' Load !!!

so do you shot gun hunt then? if so bring it on man love to here the stories, T'is the season to hunt

my uncle had a 303 britsh w/scope, needed a spotter on moving targets,(deer) and when he hit one, the deer flew into parts at 200 yrds. I see why they liked them on the WW2 fighter planes, (the british and browning 303's) for there knock down power,

Ahh deer rifles.....This is what I have so far for deer rifles, but I do want to yet get a 22-250, 25.06 and a .308.

I miss a lot (NOT), so while one barrel is cooling down I just grab another !!!

Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

a 22/250 is a M16 the bulits shatter on impact, no good for deer, and i might add YOU ARE ALL ILLEGLE for IOWA deer hunting, but bring those down here for some trial testing on live targets

Here in Southeast PA we are not allowed to use high powered rifles. My Remington 700 .270 sits in the gun cabinet. I mainly use a Remington 1100 with a slug barrel. We do have two seasons for muzzleloader. The first you can use an in-line. The second season is flintlock only. For both seasons I use a Lymen Deerstalker .50cal. I really like this rifle. I've taken four deer with it so far. It has a great feel and balance. Holding through the flash/bang has made me a better shooter. Where I hunt most of my shots are below 100 yards.

Bow Hunter here all the way. Rather take a little basket rack 6 from 20 yards than a monster at 200. But thats just me. Anyone interested in bowhunting should definitely try it out. I was very intimidated by all the technicalities involved with the sport, but once i got into it, i realized it isnt difficult at all. I shoot a Hoyt 2005 X-Tech. Best bow made in my opinion. Good luck to you guys this season. We should have a trophy thread, compare kills and maybe award the guy who shoots the best deer or something. Could be fun.

This year I am trophy doe hunting, I got turned down on my application for a buck this year..... I am basicly a meat hunter but I do enjoy the extra thrill of hunting for antlers..... hopefully next year.

Funny Mossy ...up here it's the other way around ,,,we have to put in for a doe tag ....I love the antlers as well ...but ther'ye only good for braggin rights
icon_mrgreen.gif
....besides that ther'ye tough n don't make good soup either

Same here, I also gun hunt some but I love to bowhunt. I hunt on the ground and love being eye level with the deer, a lot of fun. I shoot a Reflex Highlander, 29 " draw length, 70 lbs. and Muzzy 100 gr. 3 blade. The best bow I've ever owned.

Reflex is a product of Hoyt and they also have the lifetime warranty. This is my 2nd one (the one in the pic is the 1st one) and I have no complaints, very good shooters. I've never tried the mechanicals, I've been shooting Muzzy for 9 years and love em'. They shoot right with my field tips and blast clean thru a deer.
