Before it's cured is it bacon or just raw pork belly?

Interesting...I can only get sliced pork belly, have been wondering the same for some time now. I'll keep an eye on this post.

[IMG] Who knows how this will turn out? My butcher has ordered pork side meat for me and he is curing it, I'm going to pick it up this afternoon, I've never done this before, any advice would be welcome...I have had phenomenal luck with my Smokin' Tex smoker, everything comes out perfectly, but I'm a tad nervous about the bacon, I don't want to ruin it.
