Well I found some Bad Byron's Butt Rub at my local Publix and gave it a shot yesterday. I read it was pretty salty so i mixed 1/4 cup of the Butt Rub with a 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Smoked a small rack of St Louis Soar Ribs and they turned out pretty good. First picture is after two hours on peach paper. I put a light coat of sauce on them and put them back in the smoker for another hour. Second picture with sweet potatoes is the final product.

I did place an order for some Meat Church Honey Hog, Holy Cow, and Holy Gospel. I like my brisket rub with a little more pepper so I bought the Holy Cow but depending on the crowd I may use the Holy Gospel to take the pepper flavor down a little bit.

Aside from Dirty Bird, I typically make my own rubs. I like to apply salt early and dry brine Beef, Pork, Venison and Bison. So I go back with a homemade rub without salt.

I have my second brisket ever in my refrigerator right now with Sucklebusters 1836 on it and wrapped in Saran Wrap until I put it on tomorrow night . Never used Sucklebusters before so I am in uncharted territory

I usually start with a commercial rub like Kinders. I then tailor it to my own taste.

Every one has the typical SPG (Salt, Pepper, Garlic) it just depends on how fine you prefer it.

After that there are many choices on what looks good or new to try. I can never turn them down.

I like hot and spicy so the craze has definitely made many more choices available these days.

Hey guys, I don't really post a lot I kind of like watching the discussions and get different recipes ideas, but I was just wondering if you guys have a preference on commercial rubs. I have been making my own since I started smoking but would not mind having some commercial rubs on hand if I am in a pinch. If you wouldn't mind telling me which you prefer for Brisket, Ribs, Pork Butt, Chicken. They don't have to be something I can find in the Piggly Wiggly or Publix. I am fine with ordering them. Thanks in advance guys.
I too make my own. Have never bought store brand (commercial) because I'm to hard-headed and cheap., so I can't help with your request.

Our local TJMaxx and affiliates have had several varieties of the Kinders 8oz size for $5.49 as of late.
