That one and I think it was 70 or 71. The city of Burlington shut down, and allowed snowmobiles on the streets. It's the only time I can ever remember a school cancellation growing up. We have a picture of my father shoveling snow off the roof of our house. He's 6'4" and the snow was up to his waist.Blizzard of '77 is the one I remember most.... Now THAT was a storm!
93, I was a sophomore in hs. I was 6th man on our basketball team and we won state in our division. We traveled to Watertown Wisconsin to play the state winners from Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. Winters were still winters in the 90's but we got hit on the way back with what the news called "the storm of the century" It was legit! we got held up at a hotel ( Im not sure how the driver found anything let alone the road, gas stations and the hotel) that we rode it out in. Was fun as a kid, Im sure the coaches and chaperones were a nervous mess though! Would have been march 93.1993 was the big storm I remember we got 3 ft of snow. That even shut stuff down here in Pa. yeah, white out driving is not fun...lots of lake effect snow off of lake Ontario from my schooling at SUNY Oswego, NY.Remember when I was in college, girlfriend now wife lived 2 1/2 hours away. Went to visit her for the weekend, on way back to college drove into one town from the west, not a very big town, drove out the east side of town into a white out blizzard. Following the tailights of car in front of me... when they started heading for the ditch, I started flashing my bright lights at them... didn't take long for them to know what was going on.
Don't care to be in that situation ever again!
Ryan
Friggin crazy, only 19 deg in NE PA now and maybe 6" on the ground!So....
Lowest temp. I saw for Tuesday night was 4*F in Abbeyville, La.
Highest snow total was about 50 miles ESE of here....in Vacherie right near lake Des Allemands....10 1/2" of snow. They got more lake effect snow being right close to that large lake.

No gators, but snapping turtles have a nasty bite.
In all fairness though, unless you're "Noodling" you aren't likely to encounter a snapping turtle up close and personal like.No gators, but snapping turtles have a nasty bite.
