It's up to 5* here, and I'm getting ready to go out for my first of three 1.5 mileish walks. The cold isn't bad, but the wind gusts can be murder.

The step-daughter is the Smith Mountain area (Hardy) and so far it's been quite the Winter there. We were there a couple of weeks ago and it was snow/freezing rain and cold, had no issues getting out of Roanoke but Philly was a freakin joke.We got a snow day from work!! yay!! Probably about 3 inches, and a wind chill into the low teens, right now it says 11. We haven't had a cold winter in 3 years or so, so we're due I suppose,
What will this weather do to the snakes and Gator's?
...
The more you know!
Also, the next time someone accuses me of being lazy, I'll tell them I'm just brumating.
Been there my friend! That 2" pink foam cut to size in the bottom of a lift basket is a game changer! (just gotta "modify" it a touch to get your foot into actuating pedal). I was a big fan of changing out my socks at lunchtime too! A dry, warm pair made a big difference for the next 5 or 6 hours!I agree . To many days spent out in it . Have to get your mind right , and eat something your body will work to burn off . Drive in with just enough heat to keep the windows clear , and don't dress all the way until you get there .
Working out of a snorkel or up on a scaffold , need some foam or drywall to stand on .
It was so cold one time I couldn't catch my breath . So I put a 3m dust mask on . Didn't realize the condensation from breathing was collecting on my face and forehead and freezing . Until I tried to take it off and it was frozen to my face .
Still hurts when I go out in this weather .
Yup . 2 " rigid foam is a life saver .Been there my friend!
That first time on the "new" aluminum picks was brutal, found me a piece of blue foam insulation to stand on.The only plus side was we were stripping paint back when you could still get away with using plate burners,at least I had that to warm my hands and face!Working out of a snorkel or up on a scaffold , need some foam or drywall to stand on .
not sure about the snakes...gators will just slow down their metabolism. What will this weather do to the snakes and Gator's?
There is a "that's what she said " joke there, somewhere but I can't figure out a way to word it!Got 9 1/4" of snow today...

You don't remember the one where the female news anchor turned to the weatherman and askedThere is a "that's what she said " joke there, somewhere but I can't figure out a way to word it!
I don't care where you live, 9" in one day is a lot! Dammit, there is another one.....
The last winter/spring we lived in AK, we got 36" of snow in 24 hours in APRIL, we were snowed in for 4 days, ie all roads in and out closed..... We still had snow in the yard on the 4th of July!I don't care where you live, 9" in one day is a lot!
From this morning's ride into Fort Drum.It was -11 when I got up this morning. Once I got to work, it was up to a guy pooping a frozen turd....

I'm quite a ways from Smith Mountain, but they get it more frequently than we do in the coastal area. I despise flying thru Philly. The step-daughter is the Smith Mountain area (Hardy) and so far it's been quite the Winter there. We were there a couple of weeks ago and it was snow/freezing rain and cold, had no issues getting out of Roanoke but Philly was a freakin joke.
How much snow did you get?So this will go down as the 2nd biggest snow event in south Louisiana History.
9 1/4" of snow here at the house. About 50 miles south, they got over 10"....How much snow did you get?
Huh... maybe I haven't been watching the news. Ya think I woulda heard about that.9 1/4" of snow here at the house. About 50 miles south, they got over 10"....
It was a lake effect snow from that low spinning out over the gulf lifting humid air north over the frigid artic air. Heavy snow that dumped for hours all day.9 1/4" of snow here at the house. About 50 miles south, they got over 10"....
