Blizzard of '77 is the one I remember most.... Now THAT was a storm!

Same here.. We lived a few miles from Lake Ontario (Albion, NY) so we got the lake effect... We dug tunnels/party rooms in the snow drifts... Partied in the room and then go out and ride our sleds... Snow drifts had a tractor trailer buried from one end to other... Rode our sleds up over top of it (end to end) ...

MAN... Those were the days... We had snow days quite often ..
yeah, white out driving is not fun...lots of lake effect snow off of lake Ontario from my schooling at SUNY Oswego, NY.

Home of Oswego Speedway....

My sister worked/retired from SUNY Brockport, NY ...

We had a foot of snow three weeks ago and it's been so damn cold it's still on the ground. I don't think we have had a high temp above 20* since. Forecast high today of 39*, Hallelujah!! I'm ready for Spring Training baseball in Phoenix.

It’s out but unknown condition, my brother thinks it will be totaled… had some firefighters nearby fishing saw it break through, came over and helped them get out. These contraptions were used to get the truck out. Of course my brother put new tires on 2 weeks ago 😫

Around here an army of rednecks would have just picked it up and toted it do safety. :emoji_laughing:

Far as plowing snow, I was plowing in an F-700 flatbed with a salt spreader on the back with gravel in it for ballast.

I started up this street that went uphill fairly steep. I was about to the crest of the hill when the truck lost traction and I went into a more or less uncontrolled slide backwards down the hill. This was at night on top of it.

At the bottom of the street I was sliding backwards down was a T intersection with a house directly across from the street I was on. I had visions of ending up with my truck in their living room as I went. Luckily the truck came to a stop in their front yard a ways away from the house, and also, by luck, I didn't crap my drawers lol.

I know Albion well. I lived in Batavia for a few years.

All those little towns on the Erie Canal...Holley, Albion, Medina, Lyndonville...

93 is when it got bad around here, spent 5 days riding around in a 2.5 ton army truck with no heat in it, put chains on the rear and there was no stopping it.

I got my route plowed curb to curb as the city we were contracted by wanted, but to add insult to injury, they wanted the gravel ballast back and the spreader was frozen up. I had to shovel the thing out by hand after probably plowing for 18 hours.

I k
