So I'm totally new to the world of smoking and decided with the deals going on, I would purchase one. I finally narrowed it down to these two but open to suggestions.

I like the idea of being able to sear with the pit boss which means I can move my gas grill out the way. I don't need a very large one since I'm cooking just mainly for me most of the time.

I like the camp chief cause I've heard it has amazing customer service, is made with better quality and is easier to clean.

I hope someone can give me some better viewpoints on these two or an alternative since I don't know much about them beside things I've read.

The only way a person can tell you about customer service is if you have a problem very few folks call them up to pass the time of day. had a rack cracked on my PB, not a problem shipped me another 1.

I personally think you’d be happy with either! I have a Camp Chef DLX and love it… my friend and cousin both have Pit Bosses and they love them! I know Camp Chef has great customer service and I’ve heard great things about Pit Boss customer service as mike243 mike243 mentioned above! I’d look at features of both pits and get the one that sounds the best for you! I’d not hesitate to bring either home! Best of luck on your choice and let us know which you decide on!

I've had my Camp Chef SG24 for several years and have yet to need any customer service. Never had a problem with it so far, other than temp probes failing. Amazon has aftermarket ones that work fine.

Is there any reason that made you choose the camp fire dlx? The ability to sear with direct heat is big for me with the pit boss so I don't have to jump over to my gas grill to sear anything

Searing with any pellet grill is limited to directly over the small firepot, so if you think you can sear over the whole grate, you will probably be disappointed.

I can sear 2 big tomahawks on my pitboss. Looks like a flamethrower. He said he usually cooks for 1

I finally decided and went with the Austin xl. I would of went with the 850 competition but they would hsve to ship it to me out of state and I don't trust deliveries during the holidays.
