Hello all.  I am new to SMF.com and have a general question.  I have heard in news reports that the state of California is banning outside fire pits and fire places as well as preventing the installation of fireplaces in new homes under construction.  My question is, is this true and does this affect people who would like to smoke meats/poulty/etc. in that state?  I know it's not an important question but I just thought it was interesting.  Ohio recently passed a smoking ban and they had to clarify whether or not smokers in restaurants (big commercial smoking rigs) were intended as whell as cigarette smokers.  Thanks for your input.

That is a new one to me.. although I am on the east coast.  It would suck and I would have to move.  I can't think of many weekends that there isn't some sort of fire burning around my yard.  Even when it was 100 deg. outside this summer we would still fire up the grill.

As far as I know they are only attempting to inforce the production of fireplaces in homes. I live in the so cal desert and have no need for a fireplace so this doesn't bother me.

Most of the smoking laws are only targeting Cigs right now. If they went after cooking then charcoal would be nixed too which wont happen.
