It was actually an old fence spindle that I never got around to throwing away. Maybe that's why my garage is always a mess. Lol

in the future you may have to add a couple more of those latches (top and bottom) as there is always the possibility of the door warping from the heat...

Thank you, it finally got above freezing today and I was able to get much of the interior done. Uploading the pictures soon.
