Been going back and forth all week and finally took the plunge and ordered a new WSM 18.5 for $230 shipped !!!. Now all I need is someone to take my GOSM off my hands on Craigslist LOL !!!

I like the GOSM don't get me wrong works great but was just missing the taste and color etc that you only get with Charcoal, toyed with the idea of getting a smokenator but at this price had to go for it I guess. Now i just need to see if a moron like myself can assemble it LOL

Why not keep the GOSM?  Good to have a back up or another smoker for another purpose...you   could get a Amaze n Smoker and turn your GOSM into a cold smoker..... for bacon

Thats a great price especially since it includes shipping. I don't think you will be dissapointed. Its really easy to assemble except for the heat shield that attaches to the legs. That actually was driving me a little crazy because Weber stuff usually goes together with no problems. I thought for sure something was out of round, but a lot of people had similar experiences so I am good with it now. The damn thing is always coming off. Alot of people bend the small tabs in the legs to secure it but I like to be able to take it off for cleaning.

It will run a little hot for the first couple of cooks but after that you can control the temp just like dialing in a digital oven. The main thing I like about it is I can do other things if I need to and don't have to worry about baby sitting the fire. I actually have left the house while it was doing its thing and when I came back the temp had moved up like 3 degrees.

Congrats!

And to quote a not so famous BBQ TV host that will go nameless "Good Smokin Luck!"

You will be extremely happy with your new purchase.  I'm sure your GOSM will go real quickly on craigslist.  When I got my WSM, my MES was sold and picked up on craigslist within 12 hours.  Your going to love your new smoker!

Dang, I was following this for awhile wondering why you'd dump a perfectly good smoker. Well, now I know...I feel lucky to be able to have as many cookers as I do, and no worries about regs or nosey neighbors.

Happy smokin'!!!
