I bought a brisket a while back on sale and threw it in the freezer. Pull it out and it says "First or mid cut". I never really looked when i picked it up. By looking I thinks it's a flat but I could be way off.

Anybody clarify for me what the cut is? Seems the language is different no matter where you shop sometimes. Thanks in advance!

OK, upon further review I think I have a point here. It is nice at 4.3lbs. Alarm is set for 5 am!

Not sure what the two mean but if you can post a pic it could help.

Just assuming I would guess it is different section cuts from a full packer but, well I dunno.
Good luck either way...

If you got just a point then I am really jealous, I have been everywhere trying to find just the point but they always have flats or full packers but never just a point, where does all that meat go? Smurfland?

If you really have a point you will really have something there because alot of us really do look for a point only and all I can find is a flat all the time. The flat is the under side of the brisket and there is a small layer of fat that divides the point from the flat. When you seperate the two you will see the fat line easier. Or get a packer which is the whole brisket flat and point smoke it and when you slice it you will be really sble to see the two parts better.
