This weekend several of us converged on the SmokyOkie casa and ranch. The purpose of this gathering of great minds was to break in and Christen Okie's new smoker.

There was more food flowing through that smoker than twice as many people would have eaten.

I'll post a couple pictures here, but will also post the link to view all the photos taken during the fantastic weekend.

Peculiar Mike got to experience the Okie Method of Searin the Brisket from start to finish. It turned out to be a rilly wunnerful experience for him.

Okie did however almost slice his entire arm off with one swift pass of the knife. Well maybe not the whole arm.. but there is a pic of the injury documented for insurance purposes.

While enjoying the weekend we did receive a call from TulsaJeff wishing us a fabulous weekend. Do to scheduling conficts he wasn't able to make it.

Also there was a call from our very own Super Moderator Dutch. I was able to get a picture of the phone while he was talking on it. Granted it doesn't look anything like him, but it's the best we could do.

I'm sure some of those who were there will fill in some of the blanks... so enjoy the pictures.

Great Blazes

Looks like a great time, never too much food ,you just get to eat longer

Pigcicles, it was a pleasure to receive your warm smile and friendly handshake. Like you said yesterday, it's nice to put a name with a face and to see a bit of someone's personality. I'm lucky to have enjoyed that very thing by meeting you, PeculiarMike, Ultramag, and SmokyOkie. I also had the pleasure of meeting Okie's son. Tim, he's indeed a fine young man you should be proud of. Tim's wife is also a treat to know, as were the wives of Mike and Mag! Wow, I put myself amongst the lucky to have had the pleasure to meet you all. I hope to get together again!

Now......if I could just talk them into drinking beer....not Coors Light.

Kev! I had a cooler in the garage with Kansas City's finest in it - Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat!
Knowing it is only 3.2 beer down there I had to haul down some real stuff!

Dang!! Now you tell me!!! Boulevard is a nice beer....actually great!

<perk>.....bloody mary? I've been known to surround one or two of those too.

Mike, it was a treat to meet you and Jane. I can't thank each of you enough for your hospitality. Let's do it again soon!

We RILLY enjoyed the weekend. Rilly wunnerful! Glad you came by. It is always super to meet a fellow SMF member and put a face with a name.
I probably won't eat for 2-3 days.

Plan to attend the next SMF Gathering!

Guys, it was great to talk with you on Saturday. It sounded like everyone was having a great time. Looking at those brisket pic's convinces me to do my next one the "Okie" way!!

just saw the post & though i have yet to see the rest of the pics- the pit looks huge & beautiful- but w/ pic 2 or was it 3- the sausage- i know it's bigger than that... looking forward to the rest of the pics w/ coffee in the morning- great job & wish we coulda been there. but we smoked in your honor today too.

Thanks for sharing the pictures! I am jealous... Looks like y'all had a wunnerful time, I wish I could have been there dang it! In honor of the occasion, I spent the weekend with my smoker... did a brisket, a shoulder and a Boston butt. It surely wasn't the same as being there with you folks, but the grub turned out great!

SmokyOkie, the smoker is a work of art... very nice! Have you named it yet?

Ya know, I can tolerate about most anything being said about me Kev, but saying I'm a Silver Bullet connoisseur is fightin' words. I have a rep to protect ya know.

Next time, you might need to rumble around in the monster sized cooler a little more.

On a more serious note, it was good to meet you. Glad you took the time to stop by and more importantly didn't get scared and run back out the door.

Clyde, I left you enough corn to get you up to weight for the big trip to the butcher's place. Can't wait to see the ham's from that trip!
