Starting tomorrow, Food Lions in my area will have USDA Choice bone-in rib roast, AKA prime rib, on sale for $6.99/lb. limit 1. But that 1 can be a whole one, or at least I've been told I can buy a whole one. Also will have smoked hams for 99¢/lb.

Kroger will have them on sale for $6.97/lb. limit 2, but don't know anything about the sizes or getting what you may want cut.

Typically Publix has them too, but they don't have a preview of the next week's ad, so I'll have to see tomorrow...

Tis the season. My local Lions will also be running them. Our Kroger affiliate (Harris Teeter) is going to run them before Christmas, and I really like their ribeye cuts - but the HT price at t-day was 8.99/lb so I'll probablly just selectively shop the Food Lions to save $2/lb. I'll be in the market for a few chuck end/center cuts myself.

Well I checked this morning and Publix is running boneless strip loins for $7.99/lb. which is actually a good deal especially if you prefer NY strips...

Kroger here in 30019 is also running the Rib Roasts at 6.97/lb. Much better than 2 weeks ago "sale" at 10.99/lb. Started worrying this would be the new low price, but now looks like usual sale prices.

Our Kroger did not have any. Par for the course for them. I did a inventory check.

Also checked stores south of here and they also out.

Kroger affiliate has 3 options here, 7.99 for "Rancher" which is usually more choice than select (probably no-roll when they buy it and package it), 10.99 for "Choice Reserve Angus", and $18.99 for USDA Prime.

Let your eyes be the guide when it comes to quality. Food Lion for the win.

I did the local food lion for 1, 7 rib roast {Whole} 21 lbs. I was not paying attention till i got home and noticed the cashier charged me the price that said you saved $63.97 so I got 21 lbs for $63.97...now thats a deal. I also stopped at kroger and got 2, 10 pounders. My wife called Publix and their sale is next Weds. but they've not decided the price yet. My back is sore from vacuum sealing all those ribeye's.

Last couple of years, I've smoked one for Christmas and Sheila asked if I was planning the same for this year. Seeing the prices for Thanksgiving, I told her maybe not, but that's all changed now. Rib roast it is again for the zoo...

I got 4 yesterday. One was mismarked. It was the smallest one I got, but the package showed it weighed 2.7 lbs. In the packaging it was a hair over 4.75lb. Winning! Gonna hit the one up the road from work on break. Also had shop and save points that took 6 bucks off of another one.

I did have to hit 3 stores to get the 4. Fine print shows it was limit one and it's supposedly tracked (per the cashier) so I did have to use a separate transaction and my work phone account at the store I got 2 at. So far I've used all 4 of our accounts, so I'll report back if I have problems using one of the accounts again.

I really want a couple more. A couple of lbs of shaved ribeye for cheesesteaks and a few more steaks for the freezer will be nice.

NICE SCORE! I thought I did good lol!

I really hope Publix comes though. Every rib roast I've ever bought at Publix, I would have graded as Prime. I looked at a couple in the Kroger affiliate, I was really disappointed. Looked 100% like select to me.

I'm not so sure about that and here's why. Last week they had the Boston butts for 99¢/lb. limit 2. I grabbed 2 and went to checkout. The cashier remarked that they had sold a bunch of them and I said I wish that I could get more. She told me to get whatever I wanted so I went and grabbed a couple more and all 4 rang up at the sale price. This was 1 transaction with 4 butts. BTW, the 4 cost me about $33.

My guess is buy 1 roast through a cashier and pay for it. After you put it in your vehicle, go back in and grab another, but go to a different cashier, but use the same store card. If that works, I'd bet you could buy all you wanted in 1 trip to the store and with the right cashier, 1 transaction...

I just picked one up on my main FL account, it went through fine. Food Lion is pretty generous, Harris Teeter (Kroger), not so much. They definitely track limits.

Winn Dixie (down here) is $6.99/lb with $20 purchase. My store had a nice selection. Sale end wednesday. FWIW they were bone not separated which I prefer.
