Black drippy stuff!!!!!!!

Yeah I know its creosote......Ok my secret is out...The trusty ol New Braunfels smoker is a hand me down...May be used four -five times before I got it.I have used it ten times that much in the 2 months I have had it
With the temp here in good ol oklahoma hittin triple digits,My smokin has slowed down a bit this past 2 weeks....Put a fattie on last night and noticed when I lifted the lid the creosote was runnin like tar....I know...OMG......YUCK YUCK YUCK.......Needles to say I didnt do the fattie.
How do I clean this stuff guys? I am way freaked out by this....Thinkin of takin er to the car wash....Good idea or not?.....HELP

Yep car wash. They will hate you, but the smoker sounds like it needs it. May need a re-season after. HINT: if ya can wash it hot... or warm at least- it'll be much more efficient.

That brings me to my next question Rich.......I have heard folks talkin of seasoning and such.......When I do clean the ol beast,How do I go bout reseasonin er?

Just spray it down with a bit of Pam, or rub it with bacon grease...then fire it up for a while and run a bit of smoke thru it. You WANT SOME of the deposits there..they protect the metal. But "drippy stuff" is a bad thing... ;{)

there was some NGs deployed out to the base after 9/11, they were from texas. one of them brought with him a huge smoker.at least once a week I would see him across the street at the car wash cleaning his rig.
here at the station we have a pressure washer. It does a sweet job. no heat just high out put pressure.we just run water no soap..
