Dell got some sales going on. I currently using a Dell Inspiron 3670 and been pretty happy with it. Thinking of getting a new one. I using it more and more for video and audio and thinking of upgrading but not sure what to look for? Like to stick to about $1000. Any input would be grateful. I just bought a 4K Blu-Ray drive for it to be able to backup blu-rays. Had a heck of a time getting software for this figured out!

Seeing this on some. Is this anything to be concerned with:

**HDMI/DP not available on models with 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-12700F processor, 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-12400F processor. In order to connect to a display with these processors, purchasing a discrete graphics card would be necessary.

If can upgrade to an XPS you will be very happy. I have a 9 year old XPS that is still screaming fast…the only issue is its on Windows 10 and that will no longer be supported starting next year.

Im thinking of switching to a laptop. Lenovo makes some very well rated and not super expensive laptops if you are considering that option.

Since retiring, the laptop seems more functional for us. The office isn’t used much and the tablet is kinda limited and dying.

I done with laptops. No real need for one and at least the last couple HP where nothing but troubles. At least I can work on a Desktop.

I'd think you can get a Dell Desktop WITH a discreet card for around $1K if you look for their sales and also refurbs. I have a Dell laptop I bought last year as a refurbished I love for bill paying and an Alienware Desktop (Dell built) Love then both. What specs are you looking for a far as ram, hard drive and processor? As an example this one is a little over your budget but close. Wait for coupons and easily grab something around $1000 , I'd hold out for double that ram Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R14
AMD Ryzen 7 5800 Processor (8 Core, Up to 4.60GHz, 36MB Cache, 65W)
Windows 11 Home
512GB PCIe M.2 NVMe Gen 4 Class 40 Solid State Drive
16GB (2X8GB) 3200MHz DDR4 XMP UDIMM Non-ECC
AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB GDDR6
Dell Outlet Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R14

I've bought several CERTIFIED refurbs on eBay as well. They have 30 day returns and 2 year warranties. Here is an example of a nice deal

I looking at some of these refurbished XPS but they don't seem to come with a HDMI port? I use my computer hooked to my AVR than to the TV. I guess these things have passed me by. I use to be fairly good with computers but that been years ago now!

I also have the 3670 desktop and I added some memory and a solid state drive. I also cloned Windows to the solid state drive. Really improved the speed and performance. I do not do much video editing so I am not much help there. Not sure if you can add a graphics card since the power supply on them does not have much capacity left.

I did recently build a PC. It was closer to $1300 ish but I kinda over built it for what I do. There are websites where you can configure a PC and price it based on the components chosen. I am lucky enough to live near a MicroCenter and their build tool is pretty nice. I printed out my selections and went in store to buy. Microcenter.com Good knowledgeable people. According to the website, there is one in Houston and one is Dallas. They also sell pre-builts.

I like PC's but they can be frustrating too.......

Dell refurbished has a code right now for 48% off LIBERTY48
I looking at the XPS. Not really which one but I guess any probably work. Guess there probably some HDMI adapter. I guessing that code for today so I will just throw I dart.

Dell Outlet is the way I go. Picked up a laptop workstation that retails for $4K for $2000. More than I needed but what I wanted was $2500 with over a month wait and this was shipped in 48 hours.

Agree! I've owned quite a few Alienware both laptop and desktop. I started buy ng them before Dell bought them. Back in the day the laptop cases were aircraft aluminum. A lot of people bag on them since Dell bought them but frankly I've loved all my Dell built ones. Mine now is a 3080 vid card, 32 ram with a 1 TB SSD and a nice Ryzen processor. I plan on upgrading to a new one with a 4090 card around Christmas. Should be deals around $2400 then. Will sell the other one for $800 ish

We recently got our son a AW laptop to replace his G5…..it was 2k discounted with my work buy though account…..

It has the I9, 64 Ram, 4T SSD, 4080….we opted against the AL case but it was an option…..it’s a SCREAMER!!!!! And I mean SCEAMER!!!!
