I have a 8lb. bone in pork butt that I plan on making pulled pork out of. If I was to cut it in half and have 2 4lb pieces of meat would I reduce the amount of time it will take to smoke them?? Or is 8lbs of meat on the smoker just that ,8lbs no matter what shape or form?? Don't quite have the time for a 12 hour smoke this weekend..

Mike it would be like a 4 lb piece of meat. The second one wouldn't really add any noticeable time to the smoke

The more surface area ya got the quicker it will cook. Now that works ta a point, cause butts an brisket er smoked low an slow ta make em tender. 4 lbs a meat should be fine though, cook a bit faster.
