Meat Mopper
I have issues keeping mine lit in my materbuilt xl propane smoker. Maybe not good enough venting to get the pellets O2? Maybe I need to microwave my pellets to ensure they are dried out before giving it a whirl.
What's that mailbox mod cost for an MES 30?
I'm going to assume you are having this problem on hot smokes. The problem would be the pellets are too close to the hat source. Try making a small heat sheild or moving the tray away from the heat source. I had this problem and choose to do the mailbox mod.
I am a welder and have all kinds of metal laying around so I could build a box.It really depends how cheap you can find the supplies. My mailbox cost about 20$ 3" flexible hose and elbows another 20$. I already had high temp silicone and a cart to put it all on. So altogether for me around 40$ but could be more or less for you depending on what you have laying around.

What's the mailbox?
My MES is the analog version, there is no chip chute.
In the MES 30, there's not much space to move the thing.
If you pellets are in the AMNPS in one row, make sure that row is turned furthest away from the element, next to the wall. Next, if you opened up your chip chute, close it a little. Also, could have been wind/weather. On windy days, I usually close the chute more. Next thing to try is a single layer of aluminum foil in the row to try and slow it up, but I don't think this is your problem. Try the first two first.
