I have a question. I have an Electric Smoker and have 4 racks. A yer ago or so the digital Temp gage wasnt correct so I added a larger readable one and is on the side of the smoker.. .. It still heats the element like before so no problem there. I was smoking yesterday just some already cooked sausages for a couple hours and I pit a few dry wood chips in the chip tray but also placed the AMAZEN tray on bottom rack right side which would be over the chip tray. Anyway I got smoke but whe i opened to remove sausages after a couple hours, the Tray had gone out pretty early so only smoke I got was from the chips.. Is the tray not getting enough air flow or am I doing something wrong? I do have 2 lower drawers . I could open the bottom one a crack if it would help or maybe Id just lose heat if I did that.. Anyone have an idea?

When I was using a MES30 and running the pellet tray I would keep my chip loaded halfway out to let more airflow in the smoker.

so loading the chip tray allows more air flow? Im confused..I thought I neeed more air flowing inside somehow..Like adding a vent down low like is on top or opening the lower drawer a bit?

In a MES you remove the chip tray altogether and you pull out the chip loader an inch or two and leave it in the dump position and this will allow for better air flow.

But from your posts I gather you are using an electric that is not a Masterbuilt?

Did you dry your pellets first, what type pellets you using. Fruit wood pellets seem to be harder to keep lit. Is your top vent wide open, are you running with a water pan. I have a mes 30 and could never keep it lit inside so I start using the mailbox mod now I never have a problem.

Mailbox mod is the best for electric.
Can remove or open chip tube, make sure pellets, chips are dry. The trays do not burn inside as well as the tubes. I used 6" tubes in mine for 2 hrs of additional smoke until did the mailbox mod.

Correct it is not.. Is Landman..Nothing special ..4 racks.. digital built in temp and time control. 2 drawers at bottom. water tray and chip tray directly sits in a swuare hole down over the element and one vent on top.

Looked up some pics of the two drawer model, couldn't find a decent enough one with the door open to get a good look at the inside.A quick fix might be leaving the drawer open but drilling out your own hole and making a proper vent would be a better solution, though if your going to go that far you might as well just do the mailbox mod.

I have to put my smoker inside and take it out ea time due to weather..I did drill a hole on the side and added a new large Temp gage.... Guess I can just install a vent thing likes on the top and place it down low I assume

Mine is a Landman as well. That I converted to a PID control. And the mailbox mod. Great little smoker now.

Sorry I meant I would keep the chip Loader* pulled out halfway to allow for more air flow
