Got home from work tonight and thought I would work an hour or two. I needed to make a pipe cutting template to mark my stack for the 4 pie shaped cut outs so that I could bent and re-weld. After looking on-line with no success, I decided that I could use a 4" pipe coupling cut to the shape I wanted and then slide right onto the stack pipe. I pulled out the miter saw, clamped the coupling in place and made my first cut. Everything went fine. Everything except the fact that I cut the first one the wrong angle. Made the adjustment and re-clamped the part in the saw. I started to make the second cut and holy @#$% all he!! broke loose. The part flew as if it were propelled by rocket fuel. After the loud noise and all the parts landed, I had to have a self check moment. More so to make sure I didnt need to wipe!!!!
Here is what happened to the saw, and a shot of the part I was trying to cut. The worst part is I KNEW BETTER then to even try this. I should have glued it to a stick of pipe and then made the cut.
Just thought I would pass this on, Please Stay Safe everyone, to enjoy another day of smoking.
PS. I really wanted to sell this saw to sponsor the purchase of the new one I wanted, I guess this ones mine for a while now. Unless I can find the parts for cheep.
There is a gray line in the last pic that shows where the cut should have been.
