It takes about 14 hrs. to smoke a 10 lb. butt. So how am I going to manage a 30 lb. pig. I am too chicken to leave my Brinkman alone, when the heck am I supposed to sleep ???

Don't forget the beer, one option would be a remote thermometer that would alert you to smoker and meat temps like the maverick t-73
 
Why does the butt take so long? What temp are you running at and are you sure the temps are accurate.

Anyhow, a 30lb pig should be done in under 10 hours without a problem.
