Last fall I got a bag of whole cobs. Mashed them up and lit a tube full of them.
Ak, I did not like the smell of the smoke.
Didn't want to risk it on the 2 slabs of bacon I needed to cold smoke. Went with crushed hickory pellets.

The cob horse bedding I bought from TC had a sweetish corn smell to it. My daughter said she always knew when I was smoking bacon.

Pops(R.I.P. thanks for your brine recipe) said his dad used corn cobs to smoke the hams and bacon in his dad's market.
