I've been burning dust in a ubolt modified tube, mostly Lumberjack without issue.Same with Smokin Pecan pecan shell pellets which actually burns even better.

What I found is listed as crushed cobs,
I think it's a pellet form .

So the OP is using a tray? I thought the tray was for wood chips, not pellets originally. That's what I was using on my trays way back when. Used to buy the chips from Todd as he had a large variety of wood chips. Later the tubes came out for pellets, which I'm still using with mostly Pit Boss pellets

As far as I know both the tray and tube were designed for pellets. The no longer made larger tray could burn dust but I've been burning dust almost exclusively in a ubolt modified tube for several years.

Chopsaw answered it but they are not uniform pellets. All different lengths and pieces

I've seen the corn cob horse bedding and always wondered if it's something that can be used for smoking and now I know!

I'll have to give it a try.

I pretty much burn only dust in my tubes for cold smoking. It burns cooler than pellets. I use a stick to pack the dust in as I fill it and put some pellets in the open end to help get the dust going.

Both work for either. The tubes are designed for pellets but also work fine for dust. You just have to pack it in there with a dowel or similar as you fill it. I mostly use dust in mine because it burns cooler for cold smoking.

The tube was developed for higher elevation with thinner air. The maze doesn’t work at higher elevations.

That's my go-to for bacon. I just add about 30% cherry pellets to it. Works fine in the Amazen.

I used a tray. Didn't really pack, just poured the mixture in after drying the pellets in the oven. And yes, I used the cob horse bedding, although I have since seen it in traditional pellet form under the Amazen label.

I used to have trouble as well. Now, when I light mine...I add pellets to the flame area as it burns down...a few at a time...keeping it full. After about 8-10 minutes - it seems to be ready.

MY IS-IT-READY-CHECK:
I know its ready when I can blow out the flame, let it smolder for like 30 seconds, and then relight the flame simply by blowing on the embers.

Just to update on the horse bedding pellets, I went TS to get more and they don't stock them anymore. I didn't ask if they can order me any. I need to find another supplier of them
