I found some molasses powder online, has anybody used it and/or can tell me if it is like real molasses syrup? It's dirt cheap $2 for 8 oz, I would like to try it since we don't have molasses here.

Thanks in advance,

Gene

Hey Gene, sounds like you got a real good score $4lb is a great deal.
You can reconstitute it into maple syrup, I would have to find the measurements if you want, but it is also great used in rubs and marinades.

Description from a site that sells it:
Made from pure molasses and converted to a free flowing powder, yielding a pure molasses flavor; use to the flavor intensity desired. Can be used in coatings, glazes, blends, dry mixes, sauces, etc.

Great score!

What is the website or where can we get it?

Thanks fellas,

Jim, doesn't molasses come from cane sugar, pleeease tell me how I can make maple syrup from the powder, maple syrup sells for $15 a bottle and the misses loves it on pancakes and waffles.

Ron, just google 'Amazon molasses powder' it is sold through Barry Farms, they have zillions of powders even chedder cheese powder, ...I'm tempted to try that just for the gee whiz factor.

Sorry I don't know how to post a link, ...can someone explain it?

So then..., molasses powder is a good thing and I should buy it.

Thanks Gene

hey, gene - interesting find!

i've never heard of it, but it sounds worth a try considering your remote location. let us know how it works!

to post a link, you usually just need to copy/paste it into a post. sometimes it helps to hit the enter key after pasting it.

carry on!

Hi Gene,

You are right, molasses is the "dregs" of the boiling of the sugar cane liquids into sugar.

Maple syrup comes from boiling down the sap from sugar maple tree's.

Unfortunately you won't be able to make maple syrup from the molasses powder. They have two very distinct tastes.

You want to look into mailing you a small can or bottle of maple syrup?

gene - i'm putting a box together with some of the "other stuff" that you previously said you needed ~ if you'd like, i can add some molasses and/or maple syrup as well.

just let me know ~

ron
