Rather than inundate you all with a bunch of posts I figured I’d roll everything from this weekend into one. Really enjoying the Blackstone so far, so much so that zero meals were cooked indoors this weekend. Everything turned out really good.

Friday night was smash burgers, which I already posted here.

Saturday and Sunday morning were breakfast sandwiches. Sausage, egg, and cheese on an english muffin.

Saturday night was a chicken and broccoli stir fry.

And tonight was taco night. The corn tortillas really crisped up nice on the griddle top.

The tacos were probably the biggest surprise as to just how good they were. The breakfast sandwiches are a known staple and always excellent, so no surprises there.

Thanks for reading!

Looks great and what better way keep the smells and heat out of the kitchen,
My griddle is stored in the garage on a shelf. I need to make a trolley for it to make it easier to setup for some cooking.

Yeah for sure! Remove obstacles to cooking! I have seen elsewhere (reddit etc...) that people use cheap tool carts from somewhere like harbour freight. I'd bet you could get a cart on wheels together for a pretty reasonable price.

That all looks amazing ! I have to get a blackstone , dagummit.

Check out Walmart - they're on clearance here (Orlando). Not advertised online, but worth walking in to the store. My wife and I had been "on the fence" about one for a few months.

Mostly analysis paralysis, too many options if you look on their website - then each big box store seems to have exclusivity on a model or two, all of which are only slightly different. Too many options, honestly.

Walmart had only two options that were in our size range, so it was a much easier choice once I got there - and the price was right.

I got this one. For my pit boss. Took about 15 min to put together. And it does good as a prep table next to the offset. Got it on the Amazon.

Thanks Chop! We were surprised how much we liked it, and it was just basic old El Paso taco mix with beef - nothing special. Going to up the taco game soon and really get it going. Both Mexican street tacos and carnitas are on the list soon.

Everything looks so nice.....!!! I got to start utilize my Blackstone more often....

You’re killing it man! Wife picked up GF corn tortillas shells so I gotta try that now

Thanks all, appreciate the kind words!

I can’t verify but read that the Walmart ones are cheaper than other places, but are also less btu do your homework is all I’m saying enjoy

The one I've picked up has a hood, shelves, and front that are all stainless steel, seems pretty well built to me.

The lower BTU is correct but this is not because it's a Walmart-specific SKU. The "omnivore" griddle plates require lower BTU to maintain heat due to a better thermal design and integrated wind guards. The model I picked up (36" Pro) is 38,000 BTU / hr, with most of the non "omnivore" plate models at 60,000 BTU / hr. The next model up (36" Select) is not available at Walmart at all, and puts out only 28,000 BTU / hr. It's not because they're skimping on...something (propane they're not supplying??), it's because better design calls for lower heat to produce the same result.

On initial seasoning mine was measuring 575+ with my IR thermometer consistently across the cook top (pretty even too), and anecdotally I have found myself turning the temperature down more than turning it up - and that's using only one or two of the four burners.

Do your homework indeed :emoji_wink:

What a feast. Nice work 👍

Thank you sir! It was all pretty darn good. Enjoying some leftovers for dinners early this week.

Looks awesome!
Tacos is definitely a strong point of the Blackstone. I HIGHLY recommend you try what we can cheesy tacos (I'm sure there is a real name, don't know what it is).
Put down a good about of cheese then the cold tortilla on top of that. Once the cheese melts smash it down with a spatula. The goal is the entire tortilla coated in a thin layer of cheese. Once the cheese gets a little crispy, flip and finish grilling the tortilla in the melted cheese grease. Then proceed with your taco as usual.
The crispy cheese gives a great texture and flavor.

Thank you sir! That's a good idea. I doubled up a couple of tortillas because every now and then one would rip or break a bit...what a good idea to toss a bit of cheese in as well!

All your food looks amazing. !
Makes me hungry.
I love cooking on my Blackstone.
Mike
Thanks! I appreciate it. I've only cooked on it last weekend and really enjoying it so far.

I recently picked up a brand new 36" Blackstone from our local H4H Restore for $150. I have it packed away until we move to Jacksonville, NC in the new few years. Looking at this post makes me want to dig it out but it's just me and The Wife. I also have a brand new Traeger Silverton I picked up for $275 and it's waiting for the move or sooner if my current Traeger #75(the old, large one) bites the dust or can't be repaired. Anyone that lives near a H4H Restore should check them out periodically. They sell Company donated grills and smokers and one with slight use that were returned to Costco.(Webers, included). Patience is key. I missed out on a Big Green Egg for $400 by minutes.
