  1. Basic Slather Mix,

    Smells good!

    Here's the victim

    Looks better now

I'll put this heated beef stock & onion in a foil tray under the roast

I cut a small "green" apple limb up into 2" to 3" peices

Charring the apple and a hickory chunk

This old #8 CI is my wood fry pan (it has a crack in the bottom, I had to find some kind of use for it!)

    My Smoke Source

    UDS (one of these days)

    Cleaning and pre-heating

    Ready for Action!

I luv this little "Jewel" gas Stove/Oven

    Igniting the lump

I can't resist a little extra Hickory Chunk

    Finally!

    Good Smoke Flavor from here

I'll let everything get leveled out and put on the roast.

This is getting too long, I'm going to put the rest in a second thread

  2. Au Jus, Ah Yes

Everything pre-heated lets the "smoking" start

    Looking Good

    TBS!!

250* here is 225* at the cooking level

1 hour in (I just had to look!)

3 1/2 hours latter the 130* pulling temp I wanted

I foiled -toweled - coolered for 20 min.

    A Successful Smoke!

Everything looks great then and your fire is well on it's way to the finest rib roast yet. I like the idea of leaving the rib bone in for the flavor too.

  4. Nice job! Looks delicious.

Mine's on the counter at room temp, and gonna throw in the smoker within the hour :)

  5. Looks good. Gonna do mine in the oven around 4:00 this afternoon. Outside of watching the glow on the children's faces, the prime rib is my favorite part of christmas!

This is pure torture. You don't now how bad I am cursing our weather right now. I can't get and smoke a thing, and to top it off, I have to be teased by this. Mouth watering is an understatement. Great job and points to you for what is an absolutely fantastic looking smoke. [IMG]

Hey pine needles, I seen the end results of this smoke, fantastic, just came across this one, the prep a few minutes ago. Very very nice.
Love your old gas stove you use for lighting your chimney. Just for giggles, ask BBQ Engineer how he lights his charcoal chimney. You'll get a kick out of it. LOL

Aaaaaaaah, that is a nice one....

Nice seperation of the bones...bet that's a great treat on it's own.

I really would have liked to fire up my SNP for my beast yesterday, but it just wasn't meant to be, or I would have put a drip pan under it like you did. I skipped it with my smoke vault because the pan size would have encroached the heat path too much and baffled it...happened with my last packer brisket...makes for an interesting but very long night...[IMG]

    Well done (med) smoke! [IMG]
