I told the buyer of our house I would make her family some BBQ since she has been so patient with me in closing the sale (can you see a bribe?). Carol is going out tomorrow to find a house for us. We were supposed to close this week but because we didn't have anywhere to go we had to push it forward for another 2 weeks at least.

I will smoke it for 6 hours and put it in the drip pan with foil till tomorrow AM.

Never thought of searing them first, at least on the smoker anyways.

    Yes it is working great.
Yes searing it gives it a nice crust. I am going to pull it in the AM.

That searing is the hot ticket. I love that grill mark on some of my meats. That is why your little picture in your sig was driving me nuts. Good start Ron. Look forward to the finish.

    Looks great Ron !!!

I like searing a brisket, don't know why I never thought about searing a butt. If it weren't being pulled, a reverse sear might work. should work fine for sliced pork or brisket though.....
