Mixed up 15 lbs of chipotle wildfire from Owens BBQ....got it iñ the smokehouse with smoke applied after 90 minutes of dry time,. C-YA in the morning.,.

Thank you to everyone that was able to show up and make it another fantastic gathering.
Doug/brad your presence was greatly missed. We look forward to next year.
Keith as always your snack sticks were a hit. Good learing process of how to do it and also enjoy the end results. Next time we can sample some summer sausage.

that created this fantastic weekend getaway... If not for those two I probably still would not be a member here as that was the biggest reason I joined SMF in the first place... I asked if they would mind if a Lurker (at the time) could come and join them... Obviously they said they would not discourage anybody, but instead invite "ANYBODY" , to come... I've been a member and gone to every Gathering ever since.. So thanks to Doug and Al for inviting me in... Sure wish Al would have made an appearance since he is only a few miles away...
Doug, I'm glad you seen it my way... LOL ... But all joking aside You were definatly missed but this way is/was a much better choice for your recovery...

We had some newcomers this year that showed intrest in getting started in the world of smoking... Bill and Darcey (spelling, which isn't as bad as me calling her Dorothy for the first day or two.. So sorry about that), Miranda's parents ... They both stepped up and helped out tremendously... And I believe Darsey has just taken over as the desert Queen... But, She also made same of the best Mac and Cheese to be had... Thanks for coming and helping you guys...

Carol... When we were packaging snack sticks, your friend Tim came up and asked if we had any extras that we could sell him... I made a joke about EXTRAS telling him that when people ask me for an extra cigarette I tell them "No... there is still only 20 in a pack so no extra cigs yet... I think he took it wrong and left... As we all know that the sticks are for everybody to take a pack or three home... I went looking for him to apologize if it sounded like I was tellling him NO... That is the last thing that we/I would ever do... So Carol please contact him and explain ...
I think I've rambled on enough for now...

Turning point for me. Renting that RV and getting my wife involved really changed things. She's already planning for next year. She makes a killer rolled out cookie. She also wants to stay in the main area.

The 45# of snack sticks made me want to stay out of the way in the smoker to make the summer sausage.
The summer sausage might have been ready Sunday morning if somone pushed the start button on the sous vide at 7:30 and the off switch on the smoker.

WOW!! Looks like everyone had a great time and i missed it but i'm glad i took the advice of others and stayed home to heal up. CANNOT wait till next year! I'm glad Bill and Darcey fit in well, i knew they would. Glad we added some new faces, hopefully I can meet them next year.

If anyone needs help uploading/adding pictures let me know, i can create a link to upload images and i can help post.
Next year.....as always we try to plan the following year as soon as possible. Generally Florida State Parks only lets you book 11 months in advance but i heard that there is a 6 month closure for renovations, not sure if that affects our registration for next year. I'll call tomorrow and ask about booking for next December.
